Process analytical technology (PAT) tools, specifically FTIR spectroscopy, are becoming increasingly popular due to their ability to provide precise and real-time analytics. This results in maintaining product quality and a better understanding and control of the production process. The use of inline FTIR spectroscopy has proven to be a promising technique as it can monitor multiple process parameters simultaneously, and provides easy spectral analysis and data interpretation.

The Attenuated Total Reflectance—Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR) method is a preferred inline monitoring approach due to its ability to provide reliable measurements in liquid environments, even in the presence of water absorption bands.
